Mic Spenceley began calling for social dances at Ramsgate Folk Dance Club in 1975. He soon built a reputation for a light-hearted approach to a wide repertoire of dances of all styles; English, American, Contras, Ceilidh, Playford etc.

Since then he has called for folk dance clubs all over the country and at festivals in Bedworth, Broadstairs, Bromyard, Chippenham, Eastbourne, Sidmouth and Whitby.

He has called with many of the UK's top bands including Asha, The Falconers, Fiddlin' Around, Junction 24, Blue Mountain, Wild Thyme, Peeping Tom, Weston Country Dance Band, English Mustard, Dargason, Alterations, Cat's Whiskers, 3D, Ring O' Bells.

Mic plays electric bass and as well as running his own bands has played with The Falconers, Smith Square, The Rigadoons, The Ranchers, Ring O' Bells and the Dave Brown Band . His current band is called "RUFF and Tumble" and is based in South Wales

Mic was appointed as the Administration Manager of Folk Camps Society Ltd in 2006. Folk Camps is a listed company and registered charity that provides folk based activity holidays in the UK and Europe.
